We’re excited to welcome you to the Springer Opera House, the State Theatre of Georgia! Whether it’s your first time joining us or your hundredth, we want your visit to be easy, comfortable, and unforgettable. Here’s everything you need to know before the curtain rises.

  • The Springer Opera House is located at 103 10th Street, Columbus, Georgia 31901, in the heart of beautiful downtown Columbus, one block off Broadway.

Check which performance space you're visiting as each has a different entrance. Emily Woodruff Hall, our mainstage, is located on 10th Street. The Dorothy McClure Theatre, or The Dot, is on First Avenue with the box office located just inside the entrance.

Doors open one hour prior to show time. Please allow plenty of time to take your seats. If you are late for a performance, we will seat you at the earliest opportunity. Read our late arrival policy.

  • There are several parking options available within walking distance.

    Parking Garages:

    RiverCenter Parking Deck, 919 Broadway

Front Avenue Parking Deck, 1028 Front Avenue

Synovus Parking Deck, Corner of 1st Ave. & 11th St.

Street Parking: Spots are free after 6 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends.

Accessible Parking: Designated spaces are located directly in front of the theatre and in nearby lots.

The City of Columbus also offers the free Uptown Shuttle, on-demand transportation via a five-passenger solar panel golf cart. Rides can be scheduled for pick-up in an area that covers Bay Avenue to 1st Avenue and 9th Street to 14th Street. Call (706) 225-4584 to arrange pick-up from an Uptown location.

  • Be sure to check your ticket for the correct date and time as well as any age restrictions. Read our ticket policies for more information.

While you wait for the doors to open and the show to start, there are restaurants for every budget and taste nearby. If you arrive closer to show time, we have options available in the theatre.

For shows on the Woodruff Hall MainStage, the Springer Saloon opens an hour before curtain and serves beer, wine, soda, bottled water, popcorn, and sweet treats. The Emporium, our gift shop, is also open with theatre souvenirs, locally made gifts, Springer apparel, and additional snacks and drinks.

For shows in the McClure Theatre, snacks and drinks are available in the lobby bar.

Snacks and drinks in cups with lids are allowed in both theatres. However, outside food and drinks are not permitted in either theatre space.

Restrooms are conveniently located on the orchestra and balcony levels of the Woodruff Theatre; and just off the lobby in the McClure.

  • The Springer Opera House is over 150 years old. It’s a beautiful, historic national landmark but can occasionally be a bit chilly! Bring a light sweater or wrap just in case the temperature inside the theatre feels cool. Read our suggestions for what to wear.

You’ll receive a Playbill program when you enter, featuring cast bios, upcoming events, and sponsor information.

    Please remember:

    • No video, audio, or photo recording is allowed during performances.

    • Silence or turn off all mobile devices before the show begins.

    • Late arrivals may be seated at an appropriate break in the performance, at the discretion of the house manager. Read our late arrival policy.

  • We’re committed to making theatre accessible to everyone.

    • Wheelchair seating and companion seats are available in both performance spaces.

    • Assistive listening devices for shows in Woodruff Hall are available upon request from the box office. The McClure Theatre is a smaller, more intimate venue where assistive listening isn’t available.

    • Elevator access is available for guests with mobility needs.

  • Once the curtain falls, our front-of-house team will guide guests toward the exits so the theatre can prepare for upcoming performances. The cast is not available to meet audience members after the show. This includes photos, autographs, or informal conversations. It protects the performers’ time and safety, and it keeps our production schedule running smoothly.

Guests who want a souvenir can stop by the Emporium before the performance or during intermission. More details about our post-show policies can be found on the theatre policies page.

You can keep the evening going by enjoying one of the restaurants or gathering spots in Uptown Columbus. The Springer sits in the heart of the district, so you are only a short walk from plenty of places to relax and talk about your favorite moments from the performance.
