Please double check your calendars for conflicts before you arrive. We will have some blank forms available, but if you are planning to fill out the auditions form when you arrive, please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start time listed above.

What do I prepare?

Everyone: Please also review (no need to memorize) the attached songs, sides, and monologues from A Bad Case of Stripes

There will also be an ensemble audition for the Theatre for the Very Young (TVY) shows (The Leaves are Falling and X Marks the Spot) which requires no preparation and will feel much like a regular Academy day.

  • Please wear an Academy shirt with your name clearly visible, comfortable pants/shorts/leggings, and athletic shoes.

  • Bring a water bottle.

IF you want to be considered for Young Anna and/or Young Elsa in Frozen: Memorize the monologues for each character, as well as the portion of Do You Want to Build a Snowman? (attached)

Parents will not be invited back for the audition process to help maintain focus. Parents are not required to stay while their child auditions, although The Dot lobby will be open throughout the allotted time if they wish to wait or come and go. Student pick-up will also take place at the doors to the Dot lobby.

Audition slots are available on a first come, first-served basis. We will do our best to make sure that all students have a chance to audition, but if your child is interested, please sign up sooner than later. We may not be able to accommodate waitlisted students due to time constraints.

Finally, please be aware and remind your children that though we would love to cast them all, we never have enough roles for the number of students who audition. I wish it were different! Sometimes, students are cast/ not cast because of factors they cannot control such as their height, the color of their hair, or the pitch of their voice. Though we work very hard to include all students here at the Springer, being involved in a show is a little different than being in Academy. We encourage all students to do their absolute best in their audition and fail boldly! We would much rather have a student make a big, bold, 'incorrect' choice than someone who is not willing to make a memorable one.

We will complete casting as quickly as we can and notify everyone who auditions, regardless of the outcome. Please make sure that voicemail boxes are set up and not full. We will have hundreds of students to call and occasionally need to leave a message.

Auditions for the SOHIP Improv Team (high school students only) will happen at a later date.
