Internationally acclaimed dramatic tenor Clifton Forbis is renowned for his performances of opera’s most demanding repertoire with the world’s leading companies. His major roles include Siegmund (Die Walküre), Tristan (Tristan und Isolde), Samson (Samson et Dalila), and Otello, performed with such institutions as the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Paris Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Vienna Staatsoper, San Francisco Opera, and Dallas Opera.
Forbis has appeared in concerts and recitals throughout the U.S. and Europe, with highlights including Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Chicago and Boston Symphonies, Britten’s War Requiem with the Rotterdam Philharmonic, and collaborations with conductors such as James Levine, Daniel Barenboim, Claudio Abbado, and Sir Simon Rattle.
He holds degrees from Belmont University and SMU, completed postgraduate studies at the Juilliard Opera Center, and has studied with many of the world’s foremost vocal teachers and coaches.
