Paul R. Pierce, Producing Artistic Director - In 18 seasons as the Springer's artistic director, Paul has led an expansion of the theatre's influence throughout the region. During his tenure, audiences have tripled and the Springer has instituted popular programs like Springer Theatre On Tour and the Springer Theatre Academy. In addition to being a veteran stage director, he is also a playwright, actor and musician. Paul is the former associate artistic director of the Repertory Theatre of America, the former artistic director of the Harbor Playhouse in Corpus Christi, Texas, and the former managing director of the Wayside Theatre in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. He holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in drama and theatre from the University of Georgia. His "Springer Ghost Book" is now on sale.
Ron Anderson, Associate Artistic Director - The founder and director of the Springer Theatre Academy, Ron has been a professional actor, director and theatre teacher for more than 25 years, working with regional and children's theatres in the Southeast and Midwest. As associate artistic director at the Springer, Ron has directed Jekyll & Hyde, Phantom, Greetings!, The Sound of Music, Sylvia, The Crucible, My Fair Lady, Alice: Through the Looking Glass and Annie Warbucks. Ron has played leading roles in Of Mice and Men, The Foreigner, Greater Tuna, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, A Christmas Carol and The Duck Variations.
Patricia "PJ" Kennedy, Managing Director - PJ joined the Springer with both business and artistic credentials. She was western regional manager (Phoenix, Ariz.) and general manager (Kansas City, Mo.) of Theater League, the nation?s largest not-for-profit, Broadway-based presenter/producer; managing director of the Phoenix Theatre, a professional regional theatre; presented management and marketing design seminars throughout the nation for Skillpath/Compumaster Seminars; and owns PK Promotion, a marketing, development, and custom crafted entertainment service organization. A long-time advocate for the arts and education, PJ served on the Phoenix Arts and Culture Commission and as peer review consultant to the Arizona Commission on the Arts. She has coordinated and scripted numerous fundraisers, recorded two books for the Arizona Library for the Blind, and performed in or directed over 150 shows including Nunsense (Mother Superior), Sweeney Todd (Mrs. Lovett) and Hello Dolly (Dolly Levi).
Scooter MacMillan, Director of Marketing & Sales - Scooter develops new business partnerships, works to build audiences and increase the visibility and reach of the Springer Opera House. He writes or edits all of the Springer's publications, press releases and other printed material. He oversees all of the single, group and season ticket sales and is the person to talk to if you are interested in advertising in the theatre's Playbill. Scooter is constantly searching for new and unique ways of telling the story and stories of the Springer, its productions and the people involved.
Amy Bishop, Education Coordinator - A native of the Golden Isles of Georgia, Amy started working part time for the Springer Opera House in 1984 as a choral director and rehearsal pianist for Springer productions. In 1995 she joined the staff full time as administrative assistant, and in 1999 moved into her present position to work with the Springer's educational program. She oversees the archives, library and historic tours of the building. She was awarded the Emily Woodruff Service Award for her years of support to the artistic program of the Springer Opera House. Amy is a graduate of Georgia College at Milledgeville with a degree in music education. During her 18 years with the Springer Opera House, she has been involved in 54 productions and was last seen in Phantom. She did choral direction for Peter Pan and played in the orchestra for Jekyll and Hyde.
Sara Ketcham, Development Director, returns to the Springer staff after a three year hiatus. During that time, Sara worked in the tourism and financial industries were she further developed her sales, marketing and public relations skills. She is a proud graduate of Troy University’s Hall School of Journalism where she majored in broadcast journalism and public relations.
Allie Kent, Facility Operations Manager - Allie has been on the Springer staff for the past six years. Springer patrons may remember Allie as the previous Box Office Manager before assuming her current role.
Dona Pierce, Artistic Associate - Dona has been on staff at the Springer Opera House for more than five full seasons. Before her residency here, she could have been considered a theatre gypsy, having traveled across the United States developing her skills and creating opportunities to increase her range of talents. Properties, scenic art, costuming, and acting has given Dona a wealth of experience to draw from. Her well-structured shop reflects the professionalism she is known for, but, to really appreciate her imaginative and enthusiastic work, a ticket to the 2005-2006 season is all that is needed.
Cliff Merritt, Technical Director - After working around the country, Cliff returned to the Springer wheher he had spent 13 years, working his way up from volunteer fly crew to assistant technical director. He toured as technical director for My One and Only. He has served as technical director for theatres such as Mac-Haydn Theatre (New York) and West Virginia Public Theatre.
Hampton Bishop, Production Engineer - Hampton is a long-time veteran of many Springer productions including The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged), The Drawer Boy, Winnie the Pooh and Charlotte's Web. At CSU he designed lights for Zoo Story, Baltimore Waltz and Riches. He served as production stage manager for the Oklahoma Shakespeare Festival.
Danielle Patterson, Box Office Manager - Some may remember Danielle from the musical comedy A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum in which she played Gymnasia. Her biggest challenge was dancing in the 4-inch stiletto boots. Now, she tap dances through piles of ticket orders and harmonizes with patrons' special requests. She is eager to hear from you about how she can help you become part of the Springer family.
